2017 iacat conference venue

The Conference will be hosted by Professor Tetsuo Kimura from Niigata Seiryo University, and will be held at Toki Messe (Niigata Convention Center), located at: 6-1 Bandaijima, Chuo-ku, Niigata City, Niigata 950-0078, Japan.

There are three recommended options for your stay during the conference:

1. Hotel Nikko Niigata is located right beside the venue (Toki Messe), near the mouth of the great Shinano River, and is the preferred choice.

2. Ramada Hotel Niigata is close to Niigata station, however will require a 10-minute bus-ride and another 10-minute walk to and from the venue (Toki Messe). 

3. Niigata Daiichi Hotel is a 3-minute walk from Niigata station, but 2 kilometres (or a 10-minute bus-ride and another 10-minute walk) from the venue (Toki Messe).

TRAVEL INFORMATION

1. From Niigata Airport to the Conference Venue, Toki Messe:

  1. Taxi: 20 minutes, about 3,000 yen

  2. Airport Limousine Bus & Local Bus: 25 + 15 minutes,  410  yen + 100 yen

    The bus arrives at South Gate of Niigata Station. The local bus leaves the other side of the station, Bandai-guchi.  Take the #3 Bus See the map.

  3. Airport Limousine Bus & Taxi: 25 + 5 minutes,  410  yen + 1,500 yen

The bus arrives at South Gate of Niigata Station. You can ride taxi from there or the other

side of the station, Bandai-guchi.

 

2. From Niigata Station to Conference Venue, Toki Messe:

  1. Taxi: 5 minutes, about 1,300 yen.

  2. Bus: 15 minutes, 100 yen. The local bus leaves the north side of the station, Bandai-guchi.  Take the #3 Bus. See the map.

  3. Walk:  20 minutes. See the map.

 

3. From Narita Airport to Niigata Station

  1. Fly to Niigata: Only one flight a day!  If you arrive around 3pm, the least complicated, the fastest, and the second cheapest way.  If you book early enough, it’s from 7,240 yen. The price changes since it is flexible rate.

Narita Airport 17:40 - 18:45 Niigata Airport

  1. Bus and Train (The Access Narita (Bus) + Joetsu Shinkansen): The most frequent and easy way.  The bus leaves every 10-15 minutes and arrive at Tokyo Station in 1 hour to 1.5 hours. You don’t have to buy a ticket in advance: you can pay 1,000 to the driver. Joetsu Shinkansen leaves every 30-60 minutes and arrive at Niigata Station in about 2 hours.

The Access Narita 1,000 + Joetsu Shinkansen 10,370 yen =11,370 yen

  1. Trains (JR Narita Express + Joetsu Shinkansen): Relatively easy way!  Narita Express leaves every 20-30 minutes and arrive at Tokyo Station in about 1 hour. Joetsu Shinkansen leaves every 30-60 minutes and arrive at Niigata Station in about 2 hours.

    Tokyo Station is the largest station in Japan: you’ll arrive one west end of the station by Narita Express and you’ll have to walk about 5 minutes to the east end to take Joetsu Shinkansen.

Narita Express 2,820 yen+ Joetsu Shinkansen 10,370 yen =13,190 yen

If you travel around before or after the conference, you’d better purchase JR Rail Pass before you leave your country.  For example, 7-days 29,110 yen

  1. Overnight Bus: Only one ride a day! The simplest and the cheapest way, if it is OK to take a long time. From 3,400yen

    Narita Airport 22:20 - 6:55 Niigata Station / 7:10 Bandaijima Ferry Terminal of Niigata Port (10-min walk to the conference venue:Toki Messe and Hotel Nikko)

 

4. From Haneda Airport to Niigata Station

  1. Monorail + Yamanote (or  Keihin Tohoku) Line + Joetsu Shinkansen

    Monorail leaves every 3-5 minutes and arrive at Hamamatucho Station in 16-18 minutes. Take the Yamanote (or  Keihin Tohoku) Line, which leaves every 2-3 minutes. Tokyo Station is 3 stops (6 minutes)  from Hamamatucho Station. Joetsu Shinkansen leaves every 30-60 minutes and arrive at Niigata Station in about 2 hours.

Monorail 490 yen + Yamanote (or  Keihin Tohoku) Line 160 yen

+ Joetsu Shinkansen 10,370 yen =11,020 yen

 

  1. Keikyu + Yamanote (or  Keihin Tohoku) Line + Joetsu Shinkanse

    I don’t recommend this root for the visitors because it is very complicated.

     

  2. Bus: There is no direct bus service from Haneda to Niigata. If you wish to save money and if you don’t mind to take a long time, you can try bus services from Tokyo Station: from 3,000 yen. See Willer Site.
