2026 IACAT Conference:
São Paulo

2026 Conference Theme: The Next Generation of Research in Adaptive Testing

The 10th Conference of the International Association for Computerized Adaptive Testing (IACAT) will be held September 28–30, 2026 in São Paulo, Brazil, hosted at the FIESP building on Avenida Paulista. It is organized and hosted by the University of São Paulo (USP) and Social Service for Industry (SESI).

IACAT is dedicated to advancing the research and application of computerized adaptive testing (CAT), multistage testing (MST) in all areas of assessment, from education to workforce to psychology to healthcare. It is also an ideal forum for other innovations in assessment, from AI item generation to automated essay scoring.

The conference includes workshops, keynotes, symposia, and regular presentation sessions. We welcome both methodological research presentations, as well as stories of implementation in real situations. Graduate students are encouraged to submit their work!

Welcome to Sao Paulo! A welcome message from our host

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to IACAT 2026 and to São Paulo, as the conference comes to Brazil — and to Latin America — for the first time.

We are pleased to host IACAT 2026 and are committed to a program that combines the scientific rigor traditionally associated with IACAT with the social and cultural richness of Brazil.

The conference will be held at an exceptional venue on Avenida Paulista, one of São Paulo’s main cultural and touristic centers, offering excellent infrastructure in a vibrant urban setting.

The scientific program will follow the well-established structure of previous IACAT conferences, including workshops, keynotes, symposia, and regular sessions, with the addition of a poster session introduced in this edition.

For participants interested in exploring the city and beyond, we have partnered with a tourism agency to offer optional guided experiences. These include a curated walking tour along Avenida Paulista, highlighting its cultural and gastronomic landmarks, as well as an optional post-conference visit to the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro.

Further details will be shared on this website as they become available. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us by email — we will be happy to assist you.

We very much look forward to welcoming you to IACAT 2026 and to a rewarding experience in Brazil.

Warm regards,
Mariana Curi
